CALL TO ARTISTS OPENS SEPTEMBER 12, 2022

FOR THE SECOND ANNUAL ART SHOW IN RECOGNITION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

JANUARY 14 TO MARCH 18, 2023

In partnership with Arts Society King (ASK), the King Heritage & Cultural Centre (KHCC) is pleased to announce its 2ND Annual Art Show in recognition of International Women’s Day to be held from January 14 to March 18, 2022. The KHCC is located at 2920 King Rd., King City, Ontario, L7B 1L6.

The King Heritage & Cultural Centre is inclusive of all abilities, experiences and orientations. This exhibition is open to emerging and established women artists and artists who self-identify as women.

Artists are encouraged to interpret this year’s theme through both their art and accompanying story. Artwork does not have to be created specifically for this show but must be a recent work (created since 2020) and relate to the theme of the art show.

Theme for 2023: STEREOTYPE SMASH

Some images and societal beliefs (regarding gender roles and equality,

ideal bodies, sexuality and aging, for example) have outlasted their usefulness,

are dated, inappropriate or are just plain untrue...take one and re-create it,

re-imagine, re-contextualize…smash it!

Call to Artists Opens September 12, 2022

A completed registration form, an artist statement of up to 100 words, up to four (4) images of your artwork and payment of $25 must be received by November 30, 2022 to be considered for the show.

Registration closes November 30, 2022. Artists are encouraged to apply early as available spots may fill before the deadline. In order to meet the registration deadline, artists may complete payment and register their artwork before it is completed by submitting a sketch and/or a plan in lieu of a photograph of the complete work (and submit a photograph of the finished piece at a later date).
